L10 Literature Out of Africa

Reading Literature out of Africa provides rich learning about different cultures, a delight in appreciating writing styles, and empathy for the human experience. A variety of different texts are explored at a reading pace suitable for the group. There are one or two major works, such as a novel or autobiography each term, with some short works such as short stories and poetry. The class format includes presentations and discussions. It is a relaxed class with participation by choice. There will be opportunities for members to take the lead on discussions if you wish. Reading information will be issued on enrolment.
Tuesday 10.45am - 12.00pm. Classes started 21 April, finish 23 June.
Cost: $25 (prepaid), 10 weeks

Class members borrow these from the library, and sometimes from each other. Some of the books are available second hand and so are not expensive. Other people use kindle or e books as well as purchase new copies of those which interest them.

About the Tutor:

Catherine O’Donoghue has a background in English teaching with an emphasis on Literature. I have taught in Queensland schools and adult education. I am an enthusiastic reader of both fiction and non-fiction. I enjoy learning about what literature reveals about the human condition. Like many readers of literature, I appreciate good writing with a strong aesthetic appeal. I love sharing my ideas and learning from the ideas of others.
