Term 2 2026

J68 Latin - Advanced - Language and Literature of the Classical Period

Tutor: Shirley Lean
The aim of the course is to enrich our knowledge and appreciation of the Latin language and literature of the classical period. There are two elements to the course: a survey and study of the literature of the period through excerpts from the work of Cato through to Juvenal; and reading and reciting Virgil's "Aeneid". All works are studied in their historical, political and social contexts. We work on our language and grammar skills by translating excerpts of all works studied, so class participants are expected to spend some time each week on homework.
Venue: 232 Adelaide St
Friday 9.00am - 10.15am. Classes started 24 April, finish 26 June.
Cost: $50 (prepaid), 10 weeks
Current Enrolments: 6  (capacity 9)
