H24 History through the Ages


Tutor: Jim Moloney
This class covers the broad spectrum of history from Ancient Times to the present, sometimes with a broad brush and other times through minute by minute detail. Members are encouraged to contribute on history topics of their own choosing by researching the topic, then preparing their talk and presenting it to the class. Talks are typically an hour in length followed by 15 minutes of discussion. Lively class interaction is encouraged and afterwards many of us carry on discussion at a nearby coffee shop . Over the year, everyone has the chance to give a talk if they so choose (it is not obligatory).
Venue: 232 Adelaide St
Tuesday 9.00am - 10.15am. Classes started 21 April, finish 23 June.
Cost: $50 (prepaid), 10 weeks

Recent topics have ranged from the shifting borders of Ukraine, the History of Money and the fascinating story of the Catalpa Rescue of Irish convicts from Fremantle prison.
The class has been running in this format for many years, with a number of longstanding members. If you like variety in your learning about history, this class offers a veritable smorgasbord.
