Understanding Baroque Music is a ten-lecture course for those with an interest in exploring one of the most dynamic periods in Western music history. Covering the years 1600 to 1750, this course provides an accessible introduction to the key features of Baroque music, including its forms, styles, and major composers such as Monteverdi, Pergolesi, Bach, Handel, and Vivaldi. Through guided listening and discussion, participants will develop an appreciation for the rich textures, dramatic contrasts, and expressive power that define the Baroque era.

About the Tutor:
Barbara has a Bachelor of Music from UQ where she developed a love of the Baroque period and musicology. She spent 25 years as a high school music teacher and held the position of Head of Performing Arts. Since leaving full time education, Barbara works with preservice teachers at UQ supporting them as they develop their craft. She is a presenter at 4MBS Classic FM Radio, a Marriage Celebrant and a less than average pickleball player.It is too late in the term to enrol in this class.
