U3A in Queensland

The Website Address of the newly Incorporated Queensland Network: u3anetworkqld This new body held its Formation Meeting at Sunshine Coast University on 4th and 5th July 2009.

U3A in Australia

U3A was introduced into Australia in 1984. The Cambridge model was adopted because at the time Australian universities were not committed heavily to the idea of community education. There are now about 130 campuses and membership has reached about 30,000, with U3A being recognised as the fastest growing education organisation in the country.

There is no national body in Australia, campuses or groups preferring to remain autonomous. However, members keep in touch through networks, newsletters, an electronic network called U3A Talk, conferences, seminars and workshops. There is also an international electronic network which operates from the UK.

How do I say "thank you" to U3A Brisbane for their support and encourage them to continue?

Why not bequest a little something to them?

Providing a centrally located facility for the holding of affordable classes is always a challenge for us, and we are trying very hard to build up our finances to the point where we can afford to buy some strata titled office space in the CBD.

Any help you can give us towards that goal will not only be greatly appreciated; it will also be serving a high Community purpose in a nation whose population is rapidly ageing. Please use the wording provided on our bequest information sheet.
